  • Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) and CPN Enterprises casinos will host two blood drives on Jan. 24.
     
    They include:
    • FireLake Casino, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Grand Casino and Event Center, 1 to 6 p.m.
     
    “The need for blood is constant, and cannot be met in any other way than by generous volunteer donors in our community,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and CEO.
     
    Blood donors will receive a free hot/cold gel pack, health screenings and Donor Rewards points, redeemable for merchandise in OBI’s online store. Additionally, if blood donors choose to forgo the gel pack, funds designated for this item will go to support the Global Blood Fund assisting blood centers in developing countries.
     
    Of those eligible to donate blood in the U.S., only ten percent actually do, despite it taking about one hour and having a tremendous impact. One single donation can save as many as three lives. Donations can be made every 56 days.
     
    Appointments are not required but can be made by calling (877) 340-8777 or visiting obi.org.
     
    Must be 21 to enter casino. Donors who are16 year olds must weigh at least 125 and provide signed parental permission, 17 year olds must weigh at least 125 pounds, 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds.
