  • Master Gardeners install officers

  • The Multi-County Master Gardeners installed officers for 2014 at their meeting recently at the Pottawatomie County OSU Extension Center.
     
    Dr. George Driever, Pottawatomie County OSU Extension Center Horticulture educator, administered the oath of office to Tom Terry, president; Jan Parker, vice president; Linda Jones, secretary; and Sue Bonner, treasurer. Wanda Barnett is immediate past president.
     
    Committee chairs are Membership and Fundraising, Joan Carlile; Marketing and PR, Becky Carlberg; Hospitality, Jane Townsend and Susan Ruth; Historian and Scrapbook, Kiran McLaughlin; Teaching Gardens, Mike Harrell and Greg Hinkle; Facebook, Jo Davis; and Programs, Jan Parker.
     
    Master Gardeners continue their certification each year after taking the course of instruction at the OSU Extension center by performing 20 hours of community service each calendar year and 20 hours of gardening education. The members meet monthly on the third Wednesday of the month to conduct business and hear educational presentations.
     
    The Multi-County Master Gardeners have an active membership of 29. In addition, the current class of 20 students will complete their course of instruction on February 27. The schedule for the 2015 classes will be announced in the fall.
