  • BETHANY — Oklahoma Baptist shot 70 percent from the floor in the first half and held off Southwestern Christian 95-89 Saturday in Bethany. OBU led by as many as 22 points in the first half, hitting 21 of 30 field goal attempts, and took 52-38 lead at the half. The Bison gave up 51 in the second half and held on despite not scoring from the field in the final 7:25. “We played pretty well in the first half,” said OBU Coach Doug Tolin. “You can't plan to make all your shots but you can plan to have good possessions. We didn't do that as much in the second half.” The Eagles hit 13 three-pointers on the night to close to within six late in the game, but OBU managed just enough at the free throw line to avoid serious challenge. “Thirteen three-pointers. It was like a pinball machine out there. They just kept lighting it up,” said Tolin. For the game, OBU was 29 of 45 from three free throw line (64.4 percent) and 30 of 50 from the field for 60 percent. Aaron Abram had the answer almost all night long, going for 26 points and 12 rebounds. He was 7 of 11 from the field and got to the line 10 times, sinking 10 free throws. When SCU got within nine early in the second half, Morris Woods put on a show, scoring six straight points on his way to a 20-point night. Hayden Darst came up big with 16 points and Kendall Parks scored 11. OBU improves to 2-4 in the SAC and 8-8 overall with a contest at St. Gregory's looming Thursday at 8 p.m. Note: Report provided by Ray Fink, OBU's sports information director.
