As the old adage goes, let's “paint the town red,” and for American Heart Month, that’s actually what St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital plans to do.

For the 12th Annual Women’s Heart Event, St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital will be hosting a creative social painting class on Thursday, Feb. 6. The “Paint the Town Red” event will be held at Main Street Photo Studio & Gallery, located at 420 E Main St., Shawnee.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. with hors-d’oeuvres and heart information, then at 6:30p.m., the painting begins. The class instructor, Heather Washburn, will guide participants step-by - step through the featured painting. At the end of the night, attendees will leave with lots of helpful healthy heart information and their own one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

“This year’s heart event is a creative way to educate women on heart health while doing something fun with friends,” said Linda Brown, VP of Support Services, St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital. “With heart disease being the leading cause of death for women in the United States, it’s important for women to take steps to understand their unique symptoms of heart disease and to begin to reduce their risk.”

The “Paint the Town Red” event is $35, which covers admission to the event, canvas, paint, and supplies.

Seating is limited, and reservations are necessary. For more information or to RSVP, call (405) 878-3496.
