  • A group of McLoud citizens in support of United States Military personnel and veterans are coordinating the construction of a memorial that will honor those who have served.

A black granite monument featuring an eagle has been ordered and can be set as soon as the ground preparation and base is completed. The monument will be constructed east of the Dollar General Store between State Highway 270 and Oklahoma Street.

To assist with costs of this project, McLoud Masonic Lodge will host a bean supper Saturday, March 15, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The menu will include all the beans, cornbread and fried potatoes you can eat, iced tea and coffee and a choice of one dessert. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Children under five years of age are admitted free. The Lodge will apply for matching funds of all that is earned by volunteers. More volunteers are needed to serve and cook.
