  • A handful of local baseball and softball games were called off Saturday due to persistent rain that hit the area.
    Oklahoma Baptist University baseball and softball home games scheduled for Saturday were postponed due to expected afternoon rain.
    Likewise, Tecumseh High School’s away game at Ada High School was called due to rainy weather.
    The Shawnee High School baseball game set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Putnam City West was also cancelled.
    As of 6:30 p.m. Saturday 0.5” of rain had fallen in Pottawatomie County, said Forrest Mitchell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Norman. Mitchell said more rain was headed for the area later Saturday night.
    “The area will get another round tonight,” he said. “It could pick up an additional 1.0” to 1.1” by noontime Sunday.”
    The OBU baseball game against Northwood and the OBU softball doubleheader with Mid-America Christian will be rescheduled later, said Ray Fink, OBU’s director of athletic media relations.
