  • Three chosen finalists

  • Three Shawnee High School students have been chosen finalists in the Oklahoma Music Teachers’ Association Senior competition, recently held at Oklahoma Baptist University.
     
    Finalist in the freshman piano category is Laura Blankenship, daughter of Troy and Cheryl Blankenship. She is from the piano studio of Dr. Ron Lewis. Finalist in the junior piano category is Emma Morris, daughter of Nicki and Chris Sherman. Finalist in the senior voice category is Emily Stobbe, daughter of Dr. John and April Stobbe. Both Morris and Stobbe are from the piano and voice studio of Kaye Shields.
     
    Chairman of the event was Dr. Michael Dean, OBU faculty. The judges were Dr. Barbara Fast, University of Oklahoma faculty and Dr. Jennifer McQuade, OBU faculty.
     
    The students will compete in the state finalist competition April 12 in Norman. Winners who are selected from the playoffs will receive a cash prize and will perform at the OMTA state conference winners’ concert to be held in Tulsa May 31.
