Bethel strands 10 in loss to McLoud

The Bethel Wildcats just could not get the key hits in a 6-2 loss at McLoud on Thursday, dropping their record to 11-10 on the season.

The Wildcats got seven hits, including two Brooks Richards, but left 10 men on base in the loss.

“Give their pitcher a lot of credit,” Bethel head coach Todd Brown said. “He threw a lot of strikes and kept us off-balance. He found a way to get out of innings.”

McLoud (8-13) scored five of their six runs in the third inning before Tyler Weston came on in relief, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out five in 3.2 scoreless innings.

“He did a good job of stabilizing things and giving us a chance to get back in the game,” Brown said.

The Wildcats will host Washington at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
