The Lady Wolves medaled in three relays to finish third in the team standings. The track team brought home 11 total medals.

YUKON – The Shawnee track teams brought home 11 medals with the Lady Wolves finishing third in the team standings at the Yukon Classic at Yukon High School Friday.

The Lady Wolves medaled in three of the four relay events to finish behind Broken Arrow and Edmond Deer Creek despite not running in a couple of their usual events.

The Shawnee girls finished second in the 1600-meter relay, third in the 800, and fourth in the 3200 relay. The times were all season best for the Lady Wolves. The times in the 1600 (4:07.06) and the 3200 (9:59.77) are the best in Class 5A this season.

Individually, Paige Hughes and Mo Tramble finished second and third in the 800-meter run with both runners setting season-bests as well as the best marks in 5A so far this season.

Ashley Gonjou also had her best time of the season in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 50.41.

The Lady Wolves final two medals came in the pole vault, where Madison Rutherford cleared 9-6 to finish third. Teammate Tiffany Gardner cleared 9-0 to finish in a four-way tie for fourth.

On the boys side Shadrach Smith led the Wolves to a tenth place team finish with a second place finish in the 100-meter dash.

Smith broke 11 seconds for the first time this season, finishing with a time of 10.98.

The Wolves other medals came in the 800-meter relay with a sixth place finish, and in the pole vault, where Coby Barham cleared a height of 13-0 to finish fifth.

Shawnee track’s next meet will be at Coweta on April 25.
