The Asher Indians continued their winning streak on Saturday with a 7-6 win over Dale in the finals of the Roff Invitational.
ROFF – The Asher Indians continued their late season roll on Saturday, defeating Class 2A No. 2 Dale 7-6 in the championship game of the Roff Invitational.
The Indians, took the lead for good with two in the bottom of the sixth for their sixth win in their last seven games, including five in a row.
Dale’s Xavier Lanham tied the game at five with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth, finishing the game 2-for-3. Chase Byndas, Hunter Pinkston and Lance Cox all finished with two hits for the Pirates (19-4).
Tim Johnson led the Indians (18-7) with two hits, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning that put Asher ahead 4-2 at the time. Tanner Andrews and Colby Carpenter each had two hits for the Indians, with Andrews knocking in two runs.
Caleb Dubler got the win on the mound for the Indians, giving up six runs and 12 hits while striking out seven in a complete game effort, running his record to 5-3 on the season.
Tanner Nelson took the loss for the Pirates.
Dale will host Tupelo on Monday before hooking up with Asher again on Tuesday.
