  • Smiley leads Savages over Meeker
TECUMSEH – With a strong pitching effort from Jake Smiley, the Tecumseh Savages snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Meeker on Monday.
Smiley struck out seven, allowing two hits and a walk in a complete-game effort.
Cameron Leetka had two hits and scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch in the third inning.
Micah Sanchez drove in the Savages’ other run.
The Savages will host Blanchard on Tuesday at 4:30.
    Errors doom Macomb in loss
MACOMB – The Macomb Hornets could not overcome eight errors as they lost to Little Axe 10-9.
Dalton French was the tough-luck loser on the mound, striking out four while allowing 10 hits and a walk in seven innings of work. Only two of the Indians’ runs were earned.
French nearly overcame those unearned runs at the plate, where he had a single and a double, knocking in four runs.
Jose Chavez added a double, while Jade Bluford and Thomas Cope had one RBI apiece.
The game was the final one before postseason play begins for the Hornets. Macomb will play at Strother in the district tournament beginning on Thursday afternoon.
