BETHEL – The Bethel Wildcats scored three times in the fourth inning and claimed third place at their own Wildcat Classic with a 4-2 win over Perry on Saturday.
The Wildcats (15-14) put a run on the board in the top of the first, but the Maroons (10-18) matched it in the bottom of the second.
Payton Epperley had an RBI double in the fourth and Cody Gingrich added a run-scoring single in the decisive rally.
Perry got a second run in the bottom of the fifth, but Bethel starter Brooks Richards held the Maroons in check, going the distance to get the win.
Richards struck out four and scattered 10 hits on the night, running his record to 5-2 on the season.
The Wildcats will host Ada at home on Monday for Military Appreciation Night. All military personnel and veterans are invited to attend the game for free and will be recognized on the field before the game.
First pitch on Monday is 4:30 p.m.
