  • High school softball roundup: Tecumseh headed to state

  • The Lady Savages dominated their 6A regional on Tuesday to earn a return trip to the state tournament.

  • TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Lady Savages won the Regional Tournament, Tuesday, improving their record, 26-12 and qualifying for next week’s state championships.
    Tecumseh took on Norman North and captured a 19-2 victory in a three-inning game to open the tournament.
    Several Lady Savages had key hits throughout the game.
    Aspen Grimes finished the night with two singles, a home run and five runs batted in.
    Franki Hull followed with a 2-RBI home run and added one single.
    Hilary Babbit went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Bailey Smith had a double, a single and two RBIs.
    Suni Meely also contributed a double and two RBIs.
    Syler Shepherd and Jordan Detherage each went 1-for-3 and scored two runs.
    Tecumseh shut down Jenks, 20-6 in the second game of the tournament.
    The Lady Savages had quite a few players contribute to their high score.
    Sierra Humphrey had two singles, a double, a triple and four RBIs.
    Hull additionally added a home run, a single and four RBIs. This was the second home run for Hull in the tournament.
    Kelsie Carsten had four singles, Logan Hays had a triple, Grimes had two doubles, two singles and one RBI and Babbit had one single, one double and two RBIs.
    Detherage added a single and a double, while Shepherd had a double, a single and two RBIs.
    Tecumseh triumphed over Jenks in the final game, winning 16-6.
    Humphrey had the biggest hit of the night with a grand slam home run in the 2nd inning. Humphrey finished the night with two more singles and five RBIs.
    Cummings, Hull and Bailey Smith each had two doubles during the game.
    Hays, Babbit and Detherage additionally contributed two singles each for Tecumseh.
    Lastly, Grimes and Meely had one single each in the game.
    Up next for Tecumseh is the State Tournament beginning on May 6.

    Dale downs Chandler
    CHANDLER —The Dale Lady Pirates snatched a 14-3 victory over Chandler, Tuesday.
    Dale had four players with key hits.
    Jaelin Flewallen and Ryan Griggs each hit a home run during the game.
    Kenzie Stith had a single and Delacy Dockery added two hits.
    Up next for Dale is the Regional Tournament starting Thursday.
    The Lady Pirates will travel to Kiefer to play at 1 p.m.

    Bethel doubles up Westmoore
    WESTMOORE — The Bethel Lady Wildcats captured an 8-4 victory over Westmoore in their regular season finale on Tuesday.
    Page 2 of 2 - Rylee Steward led Bethel with a 3-run home run in the third inning to put them up, 6-1.
    Montana Price added two runs batted, while Mikayla Whitten had a double and Rachel Stark had two singles for the Lady Wildcats.
    Bethel improves their record to 33-5.
    The Lady Wildcats will host the Regional Tournament beginning on Thursday.
    Bethel will play in the first set of games at 1 p.m. against Seminole.

    Asher downs Sulphur
    SULPHUR – In their final tune up before regionals, the Asher Lady Indians defeated Sulphur 5-1 on Tuesday.
    Asher (26-7) scored two run apiece in the second and third innings, getting 10 hits on the night.
    Shelby Fleming led the Lady Indians with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, hitting two doubles. Tarin Dubler added a double while Desaray Goodgion had two singles.
    Winning pitcher Sarah Wauahdooah held Sulphur to nine hits and a single run in the fourth inning.
    Asher will host a Class A regional on Thursday and will play in the opening round of the tournament against Mill Creek at 1 p.m. Okarche and Tupelo will follow at approximately 2:15.
