  • Shawnee police released surveillance camera photos Thursday in hopes someone can identify a suspect who was likely involved in two armed robberies at local convenience stores.
Shawnee Police Detective Jason Crouch said police believe the suspect captured on camera at the Pflash Stop, 623 W. Farrall, is possibly one of the two suspects who hours later robbed the Kwick Stop at Center and Independence Streets. Those incidents occurred Tuesday night.
The first robbery occurred at the Pflash Stop about 6:59 p.m. while the second occurred about 9:14 p.m. at the Kwick Stop.
During the robbery at the Pflash Stop, a black male suspect wearing all black clothing and a black bandana over his face opened the front door, stepped inside and then pulled out and waved a black pistol while demanding the clerk give him money. Crouch said it appears from the surveillance photo that he was wearing a Missouri Tigers black stocking cap.
At first, the clerk and others in the store thought the man was playing a joke on them, police reports show, “then the male pulled out a black pistol, started waving it around, and demanded cash from the register,” while yelling an expletive at the clerk.
The clerk gave the suspect the drawer and the suspect grabbed bills and ran outside and fled westbound on foot.
The suspect made off with cash, but dropped a $20 bill outside the store, reports show.
In the Kwick Stop case about two hours later, two black males entered the store and pointed guns at the store clerk there. The suspects demanded money, with one suspect ejecting a round from his firearm onto the counter at that store, reports shows.
Both suspects in that case were wearing black stocking caps; one had a blue bandana over his face and the other a black bandana.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Shawnee police, 273-2121 or CrimeStoppers at 273-0989.
