  • Dale baseball falls to No.1 Tuttle

  • The Pirates fell to Tuttle 6-4 on Thursday, while McLoud advanced to regionals with a district sweep of Mount St. Mary's.

  • DALE – Playing their second number one team this week, the Dale Pirates fell short with a late rally in a 6-4 loss Tuttle on Thursday.
    The Tigers (26-7) score two in the third to take the lead before the Pirates (21-7) countered with two of their own in the fifth.
    But Tuttle scored four in the sixth to take the lead for good despite two Pirate runs in the bottom of the seventh.
    Connor Litterell was the winner on the mound for the Tigers. Lane Cox took the loss for the Pirates.
    Gage Ross, Xavier Lanham and Skyler Martin all had doubles for the Pirates, who will host 3A No.1 Verdigris on Friday.
    First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Dale.
    Redskins advance to regionals
    MCLOUD – The McLoud Redskins advanced to next week’s regional playoffs with a district doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Mary's on Thursday.
    The Redskins (11-21) rallied back from a 7-1 deficit to secure a 9-7 win in game one. Devon Dark had a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to break a 7-7 tie.
    Matt Rackley was the winning pitcher for McLoud. Mount St. Mary’s scored seven runs in the second inning to take a six-run lead, but the Redskins scored four in the fifth and two more in the sixth before Dark’s game winner.
    The Redskins kept the momentum going in game two, scoring four runs in the first and building a 5-0 lead on their way to a 7-2 win.
    Dalton McClelland was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Redskins, while James Goad added a double.
    John Teague went 3-for-7 in the two games in a losing effort for Mount St. Mary’s. Michael Brownlee was the winning pitcher for McLoud.
