• Milling project on Broadway from MacArthur to Federal is half a mile long.

• Work began Monday with milling the existing paving, then sweeping and cleanup of area.

• Reinforced fabric was placed Tuesday and asphalting operations began Wednesday and completed Thursday.

• “The contractor on this project has worked expeditiously and basically gotten the half a mile project completed within four working days and without major disruption to the traveling public,” said City Engineer John Krywicki.

• The milling project is a maintenance type project where the city had bid out quantities of work last fall to mill and overlay various streets.

• Haskell-Lemon is the contractor.

• Krywicki said the exact costs are unknown because the maintenance project is a unit price contract and the contractor gets paid for actual as-built quantities in place, but those figures will be known early next week.

• “We will begin measuring up final quantities after the contractor is completed,” he said.
