  • I’m sure by now we have all heard the news on the Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. If you haven’t, I’ll give you this short background.
Mr. Sterling was caught on audio talking to his girlfriend about a picture she posted on her Instagram. He is angry with her because the picture she posted was of her and Magic Johnson.
Why is this bad? Well according to him, long story short, she should not promote black people in any way or bring them to his games. Let me just say this, I’m absolutely nauseated at Donald Sterling.
For one, the majority of his players, and his coach, are black. Which makes me feel very sorry for the players and coach because now they have to play in the playoffs through all this adversity, and for an owner who doesn’t like them.
Two, his girlfriend is mixed. So not only do we have racism and bigotry, we have hypocrisy.
I have a hard time facing the fact that in this day and age we still have racism. But we do, and we usually just have to brush it off and deal with it.
Why does it still matter what the color of your skin is? It’s 2014.
And please don’t try to bring in the argument about his right to privacy on the subject. He lost that when he went on a racial rant.
On a good note, the NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, handled this situation very well. I completely agree with him for fining Mr. Sterling 2.5 million dollars, and banning him from the NBA for life. Which will force him to sell his team.
I’m very proud no one blew this off. It’s racism, it’s bigotry, and its hypocrisy at it’s finest.
To me, it doesn’t matter what color you are, because at the end of the day we are all human, and at the end of the day we all bring something to the table.
We can learn something from Mr. Sterling. Which is, if you’re racist, keep it to yourself!
