The Chieftains' Papi White defended his state title in the long jump on Saturday in Moore.
MOORE – Seminole’s Papi White jumped 23-7.75 to win the Class 4A state title in the long jump at Moore High School on Saturday.
White finished over a foot ahead of Dalton Stout of Bethany with the second of his three jumps to win the event for the second straight year.
White also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and helped the Chieftains’ 4x100 relay team to a second place finish.
In all, White won four medals at the meet, helping the 4x200 relay to a second place finish on Friday.
The Chieftains finished fourth in the team standings.
The Bethel Lady Wildcats also had a second place finish on Saturday, finishing behind Vinita in the 4x400 relay. Kelcey Eropkin picked up Bethel’s only individual medal on Saturday with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash.
Tecumseh’s Kolby Lofton was fifth in that event, while Tesa Potter had the Lady Savages’ highest individual finish with a second in the 800 meters.
In 3A Prague added medals in two events on Saturday. Jacob Turner was fourth in the pole vault with a height of 13-0, while the girls 1600 relay team of Miranda Opela, Ella Schultz, Michaela Farrill and Janay Nix finished sixth in a time of 4:17.09.
