  • The Mabee-Gerrer Museum welcomes everyone to visit an amazing world-class art collection free of charge this summer!

Three major sponsors have provided funding so that the museum can waive admission fees this summer. For the months of June, July, and August, admission will be free for everyone due to the Ad Astra Foundation, Kickapoo Casino and St. Gregory’s Abbey contributions.

Through August 31 visitors may come once or multiple times and see Ancient Egyptian, African, Medieval, Modern, Native American collections and more. Director and Chief Curator, Dane Pollei always likes to point out, “It’s always 70 degrees inside the museum, so it’s one of the best places to cool off in the Oklahoma heat.”

He also mentions, “For the last four summers the number of visitors has increased exponentially during our free admission time compared to previous years.” This is a key motivating factor for Ad Astra Foundation, Kickapoo Casino, and St. Gregory’s Abbey.

In addition to the permanent collection, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art will offer two special exhibitions this summer. Currently, the museum offers Barbara Cleary: Natural Journey. The Cleary exhibit runs through June 22. From July 12 through August 24, the special exhibit Organic: Exploring Nature through Art will be featured.

Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays. For additional information about the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, please visit www.mgmoa.org or call (405) 878-5300. The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is located at 1900 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, on the campus of St. Gregory’s University.
