  • There will be a worship service and book signing with Dr. Heng Lim at 10:30 a.m., Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church.

Pastor Ben Williams writes, “Heng and Rachel Lim both grew up in Cambodia under the domination of a communist regime called The Khmer Rouge. Today, Dr. Lim is a successful Oklahoma oral surgeon.

“In their teen years as refugees, both ended up in the U.S. As a young child, Heng worked in a rice paddy under an armed gorilla warrior. Half of the population of Cambodia died, most from starvation.

“Heng survived to start school in Oklahoma City, knowing no English and being illiterate. He worked hard and graduated top of his class at O.U. Dental School.

“Dr. Lim was my dentist and my next door neighbor. His first book, ‘My Journey to Paradise,’ convinced me that Oklahoma is paradise. My wife, Jeri, was one of the editors of Dr. Lim’s most recent book, ‘The Ultimate Life: Return to the Killing Fields.’ A movie will soon tell Dr. Lim’s life story.”
