  • The Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Tuesday released an updated report showing a Macomb man has died from injuries he suffered in an accident on May 29.
The OHP report shows David Powell, 63, Macomb, died Sunday, according to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
Powell had been injured in an accident that occurred on Slaughterville Road, southwest of Tribbey in Pottawatomie County.
He was driving a 2000 Ford pickup southbound on Slaughterville Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, the OHP reported. The pickup departed the roadway to the left and struck a fence and gate before continuing into a pasture and hitting a tree and a group of more trees.
Troopers said he was first taken to St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital then transferred by Medi Flight helicopter ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he remained hospitalized with head and internal trunk injuries until his death.
Cause of the collision was listed on the trooper’s report as unsafe speed.
The OHP said seat belts were not in use.
