  • Facing concerns about keeping the blood supply strong during the July 4th holiday week, Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is urging Oklahoma City-metro residents to make donation a priority.
A limited-edition All-American blood donor T-shirt and two free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo will be given to each donor at locations hosting these All-American blood drives:
    • Grand Casino; Shawnee, Thursday, July 3, 1 - 6 p.m.; $10 Match Play for each donor.
    • FireLake Casino; Shawnee, Thursday, July 3, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; $10 Bonus Play for each donor.
    • Kickapoo Casino Harrah; Thursday, July 3, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.; $10 voucher to play at Kickapoo Casino Harrah for each donor.
    • Shawnee Mall, Saturday, July 5, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Anyone, 16 and older and, generally in good health, can likely donate blood.
“Holidays put incredible stress on the blood supply for patients in our state,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. “We are grateful for all donors who can take time during the holiday week to help Oklahomans who will need blood through the summer.”
