  • Shawnee police are hoping the public can help identify a woman who racked up thousands of dollars in purchases with stolen credit cards.
Detective Jason Crouch said a car was burglarized while parked at Sterling House on Kickapoo Street, where two purses were stolen.
In no time at all, the suspect, captured on surveillance videos, used credit cards at Dillards and Walgreen’s, he said, making large purchases including five, $500 gift cards.
As the suspect got braver and tried to make additional purchases, the cards were declined, Crouch said, and the cards were refused at JC Penney because the woman didn’t have an ID.
Crouch said they are hoping someone might identify the female suspect from surveillance images.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Shawnee police detectives at 878-1630 or 273-2121.
