  • As a recent high school graduate, 18 year old Sara Morgan will be competing at the International Finals Youth Rodeo for her second and last year.
Morgan said her father competed in rodeos and her mother roped before Morgan was born.
Although she has been competing in rodeos for as long as she can remember, Morgan participates in many other things as well.
She was a member of the Nation Honors Society, National Technical Honor Society and was Gordon Cooper Technology Center class president.
Morgan also played basketball and softball, and was captain of Wellston High School’s softball team.
“My parents have always helped me manage all of it,” she said. “They’ve helped me get to basketball games on time or softball games on time and go to nationals and go to rodeos and help me feed the horses when I’m gone.”
This year, Morgan will be competing in breakaway roping and team roping. Breakaway is her favorite.
“It’s a lot faster of an event and you don’t have to rely on anybody else or nobody else has to rely on you, it’s just all you,” she said.
In the fall, Morgan will attend Oklahoma State University, where she will major in sociology or architecture and continue competing in rodeos.
