  • The three candidates for the recent Ward 6 Shawnee city commission race completed campaign documentation provided by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
    Election winner Michael Dykstra submitted a Campaign Contributions and Expenditures Report to the city, as did incumbent Steve Smith. Larry Smith submitted a Statement of Inactivity, declaring no contributions or expenditures.
    Dykstra reported five in-kind contributions from Citizen Potawatomi Nation: airfare, $106, airfare, $106, booth snacks, $35, watermelon feed, $100, and luncheon, $281.75, for a grand contribution total of $628.75.
    He reported zero expenditures.
    Steve Smith reported a total of $240 in contributions of $200 or less, and no contributions of more than $200.
    He reported two expenditures: printing, $1,063.31, and general advertising, Facebook, $350, for a grand expenditure total of $1,413.31.
    Dykstra will assume the city commission seat in September. New commissioners joining him in September are Gary Vogel, Ward 1, replacing Pam Stephens, and Lesa Shaw, Ward 5, replacing John Winterringer. Current commissioners Linda Agee, Ward 2, James Harrod, Ward 3, and Keith Hall, Ward 4, will remain in their respective positions.
