Shawnee firefighters extinguished a mobile home Friday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Andy Starkey said crews responded to the fire just before noon in the 1500 block of East Farrall.
The mobile home was vacant, Starkey reported, although there was still furnishings and property inside. Starkey said the mobile home was a total loss. Cause of the fire is undetermined, he said, although fire marshal investigators are probing cause.
With the extreme temperature and heat indexes Friday, Starkey said fire crews were rotating out every 15 minutes or so in at attempt to stay hydrated while fighting that fire, with REACT EMS paramedics working the scene to help firefighters. No injuries were reported.
