The annual Junior Beefmaster Breeders Association National Convention and Junior Show will make its Shawnee debut this week.

More than 400 head of Beefmaster cattle and youth from several different states will begin moving in to the Heart of Oklahoma on Monday. Show events will run Thursday to Saturday and are free to the public.

“It’s a national show, so there will be kids from all over,” said Mike Jackson, Operations Manager at the Expo Center. “These kinds of shows are good for the economy and tax dollars here in Shawnee.”

Jackson said even though this is the first time the Expo Center has hosted this particular event, he hopes the facility continues to attract events like it.

Last year’s junior Beefmaster show was held in College Station, Texas.
