Several area athletes and coaches will be participating in the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State Games in the Tulsa area this week.

Meeker head football coach Mike Hedge will be an assistant on the East squad during Friday’s football game at Bixby High School. Hedge led the Bulldogs to a 12-1 mark and an appearance in the state quarterfinals in 2013.

All-State week kicked off with golf and swimming on Monday. Bethel’s Alek Cunningham teamed with Preston Lovett of Tishomingo to defeat Isaac Griffs of Bethany and Tyler Price of Harrah by eight strokes in the boys golf competition at Cherokee Hills Golf Club in Catoosa. Their East squad defeated the West 15.5-8.5.

On Tuesday baseball, tennis and volleyball will all compete. In baseball Dale’s Gage Ross and Chase Byndas, along with Asher’s Trucker Lee and Tanner Andrews will compete on Small East squad, while Shawnee’s Colin Robertson will play on the Large West team.

Wednesday will feature wrestling and girls basketball. Shawnee grad and OBU signee McKenzie Cooper will play on the Large East squad in basketball, while Shawnee’s Gage Humphrey will wrestle at 220 pounds on the Large East team.

Humphrey is also an alternate at linebacker in football.

Several area players are slated for Friday’s football game, including Shawnee wide receiver Chris Lester, Meeker offensive lineman Dillon Smith and Meeker defensive back Dallas Jackson.

Seminole running back Papi White and Shawnee offensive lineman Riley Greenlee are listed as alternates.

Bethel grad Mollie Brewer was selected to the cheerleading squad.

Alternates included Michael Heon and Chad Chlouber of Shawnee (swimming), Hannah Brooks and Summer Skillern of Shawnee (volleyball), Brayden Newton of Dale (girls basketball), Trey Maston of Shawnee (boys basketball), Taylor Evans of Shawnee (cheerleading), Brooks Richards of Bethel (baseball), Xavier Freeman of Seminole (baseball) and Raven Hawkins, Cayte Cox and Ashlee Birchall of Tecumseh (tennis).
