  • Local gym holds state powerlifting meet

  • Crain's Muscle World Gym in Shawnee hosted the USPF Sooner State Open Powerlifting Championships last Saturday.

  • Local lifter Kassie Bohot set a state record in the deadlift in dominating the USPF Sooner State Open Powerlifting Championships held at Crain’s Muscle World Gym in Shawnee on Saturday.
    Bohot deadlifted 343 pounds to set the Oklahoma record, part of her total of 688 pounds. She won the women’s open division and was named outstanding lifter.
    Lifters competed in three events; squat, bench press and deadlift.
    Morris Burns claimed first place in the open deadlift in the 181-pound class with a lift of 200 pounds, 15 pounds short of the state record in the 75-79 age group.
    Marchand Fleming lifted a total of 1,555 pounds in the three events, including 620 pounds in the deadlift, to claim first place and outstanding lifter in the masters division.
    Justin Pendergraft finished in first place in the 220-pound division with a total of 805 pounds, while Randy Henshaw won the open bench press with a lift of 391 pounds, a state record in the 55-59 age division.
    Other winners included Bryce Bohot, who totaled 1,880 pounds, squatting 700 pounds, bench pressing 530 pounds and deadlifting 650 pounds to win first place in the 275-pound class. Bohot was named outstanding lifter in the open division.
    Robert Linder rounded out the winners with a second place finish in the 308-pound class in the masters division with a total of 1,235 pounds.
