  • An 18-year-old Shawnee man and a 24-year-old man from Tecumseh were killed when the vehicle they were in collided with a garbage truck in Garvin County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Joshua Clark, 18, and Chase Marical, 24, were pronounced dead at the scene of that accident on SH 19, about seven miles west of Stratford.
The OHP reports that Clark and Marical were occupants of a 2010 Chevrolet, but which one of them was driving still remains under investigation by state troopers.
The accident occurred about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday. Troopers reported the vehicle occupied by Clark and Marical was traveling westbound on SH 19 when it traveled left of center for unknown reasons.
The OHP said the Chevrolet struck head-on a 2002 International garbage truck driven eastbound by James Nauman, 26, of Pauls Valley.
Both vehicles caught fire at the scene and burned, the patrol reported.
Nauman was taken by Stratford EMS to Pauls Valley Hospital, where he was treated for unspecified injuries and then released.
While left of center is listed as cause of the collision, the condition of the drivers at the time of the crash does remain under investigation.
Troopers noted Nauman was wearing a seat belt but it is still under investigation whether Clark and Marical were wearing their seats belts.
Several state troopers worked that accident scene along with other emergency responders.
