Several new teachers to greet Tecumseh students.

Tecumseh Public Schools will begin the 2014 school year Thursday, Aug. 14.

All teachers will report Monday, August 11.

Incoming students shouldn’t expect to see any new construction on campus. Tecumseh currently isn’t working on any bond projects and only worked on routine maintenance over the summer months.

Students should expect to see plenty of new faces in the faculty, however. Twenty new teaching hires have been added.

The new hires at Tecumseh High School include Melinda Dennison, vocal music; Bryce Gaddy, social studies and Chuck Peot, social studies.

Tecumseh Middle School will be welcoming Amy Click, language arts; Preston Medley, social studies; Shantel O’Grady, language arts and Bob Williams, special education.

Cross Timbers Elementary will be seeing the most change, adding six new faculty members. They are: Susan Adcock, special education; Rebecka Axton, fifth grade; Tamra Bess, special education; Teresa Ledbetter, principal; Angela Morris, third grade and Tina Morris, reading specialist.

Barnard Elementary School will be adding Brenda Simpson, second grade; Kristen Taron, first grade and Kelsey Van Cleave, first grade. Krouch Earl Childhood Center is hiring Kim Sanders, kindergarten and Justin Williams, physical education.

The Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center is adding Jonathan Meadows, social studies and Melissa Winston, family & consumer sciences.

School hours for the upcoming year are 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Board of education hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Enrollment for Tecumseh began July 31 for all grades. Parents still looking to enroll their child should call the school site at which their child will be attending.

All students are encouraged to enroll by August 11.

The district has an open house scheduled for Tuesday, August 12. Parents are encouraged to meet the faculty at their child’s school.
