Trooper returns to duty.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms Trooper Jerrod Martin has been released from routine suspension and returned to active duty status.
Martin was involved in a fatal on-duty shooting in the
town of Delaware on June 16, 2014, after which Martin was placed on routine paid suspension pending the outcome of an investigation.
Following an internal review conducted by the OHP and in cooperation with the 11th Judicial District Attorney's Office in Nowata County, Martin has been cleared to return to work.
"I appreciate the timeliness and independent review of this matter by the Nowata County District Attorney's Office. Having reviewed all facts and evidence surrounding this event, I've authorized the return to full-duty status of Trooper Jerrod Martin effective immediately", stated Chief of Patrol Colonel Rick Adams.
The Department of Public Safety received a letter today from District Attorney Kevin Buchanan which justified the deadly force used by Martin.
