  • The Dale Pirates used a five-run fifth inning to put away Latta in the first round of their own tournament on Thursday.
The Pirates (1-0) built a 4-1 lead through three innings before the outburst ended the game by run rule.
Logan Carter got the win on the mound, allowing three hits and seven walks while striking out six.
Hunter Sanford was 2-3 with 4 RBI while Carter added a pair of hits.
“We graduated eight, so it was a big class to replace,” Dale head coach Jerry Sanford said. “We have to learn how to win again.”
