Shawnee scored 3 in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Lady Savages and move to 2-0 on the season.

Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped the Shawnee Lady Wolves to a 5-4 win over Tecumseh at Shawnee High School on Friday, moving the Lady Wolves to 2-0 on the season.

Tecumseh scored three times in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead before the Lady Wolves mounted a late charge that was capped off by Kaitlyn Deardorff’s go-ahead RBI base hit.

Logan Bonner led Shawnee with three hits, while Taylor Chamblin was 2-2 with two doubles. Kelsey Simmons and Lexi Freeman each had run-scoring doubles while Kristen Grabin scored two runs.

Kylee Thompson went the distance in the circle, allowing one earned run and six hits while striking out three.

“I’m really, really pleased with how we swung the bats,” Shawnee head coach David Rolette said. “We need to clean it up defensively. All four of their runs came off walks or errors.”

Tecumseh took advantage of a walk, a base hit and two errors to score their three runs in the top of the fourth inning. A lead off walk in the top of the seventh also came around to score.

Shawnee will host Tulsa Memorial in a District 5A-4 doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday. Tecumseh will host McLoud on Monday.
