  • Defendant ordered to pay restitution.

  • The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that Bobby Gene Smith 43, of Broken Arrow, was sentenced to 3 years of probation for Theft Of Government Funds. As a condition of probation, he was ordered to pay $19,076 in restitution.
     
    The charge arose from an investigation by the United States Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General. Smith pled guilty in March 2014.
     
    The information alleged that from about May 8, 2010 to about May 7, 2011, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the Defendant, did willfully and knowingly embezzle, steal and convert to his own use, money and things of value from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, an agency receiving and administering funds on behalf of the United States, which had been paid to the defendant as unemployment insurance compensation benefits to which the defendant knew he was not entitled, and having a value in excess of $1,000.
     
     
    The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing.
