  • Shawnee runners open season at Carl Albert meet

  • MIDWEST CITY – Shawnee senior Malique Lytle finished in second place in the Carl Albert cross-country running meet on Friday, the first meet of the season for the Wolves and Lady Wolves.
    Lytle finished the 5K course in a time of 16:39, just behind Duncan’s Mason Bivens in the large school division.
    The Wolves finished sixth as a team. Seth Maston was the second fastest runner for Shawnee with a time of 18:52, followed by Josh Kalies (19:11), Colby Chamblin (19:16), Brice Koons (19:52), Clay Dominy (20:02) and Ben Parker (20:52).
    Sadie Cullison had a top-10 finish in the large school girls division, finishing in ninth place in 22:15. Avery Kosemund (23:41), Alyssa TallBear Coker (24:06), Anna Dowhower (24:08), Emily Palinkas (24:12), Blair Johnson (24:31) and Jensen Miller (24:33) were the other finishers for the Lady Wolves.
    The Shawnee cross-country teams will run again on Friday at Putnam City West.
