  • Discussion on a resolution canceling a November municipal election that puts to voters an ordinance amending a city charter regarding detachment of territory is expected at the Tuesday night Shawnee City Commission meeting.
Commissioners will consider and possibly take action on the item, which also calls for a notification to the Pottawatomie County Election Board of the cancellation.
The evening includes a recess for a reception for outgoing and incoming commissioners. New commissioners Micheal Dykstra, Lesa Shaw and Gary Vogel will be seated, officially filling the positions of former commissioners Steve Smith, John Winterringer and Pam Stephens.
Commissioners James Harrod, Keith Hall and Linda Agee will continue to serve their wards. Mayor Wes Mainord will also continue to serve.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.
