Cushing senior to give voice recital Saturday

Shawnee, OK —

Katelyn Horrocks, a soprano from Cushing, will give her high school senior voice recital at Oklahoma Baptist University at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Geiger Center Room 222. She is a student of Dr. Don Clark, OBU Professor of music emeritus.
 Horrocks will perform art songs and music theatre songs from several countries. She won superior ratings in the Oklahoma Music Teachers Achievement Auditions for four years, second place winner in the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association State Seenior Auditions in May 2007 and semi-finalist in the Texoma Regional Auditions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing this year.
At the OMTA state auditions to be held May 16, she will receive the Clarence Bury Award for four years of superior ratings on the OMTA achievement auditions.
She sang in OBU’s Young Singers of Central Oklahoma for several years. In 2007, Horrocks performed the title role of Cinderella at Inspiration Point Vocal Arts Camp in Eureka Springs, Ark., and also performed in a recital there.
She has enrolled as a student at OBU for the fall of 2008. She will be accompanied in her recital by her piano teacher, Jeannie Tyler, and assisted by her Clark. The public is invited to attend.
