Greeting Shawnee’s new residents a mission for local woman

Local businesswoman Renita Swedberg has been welcoming new residents to the area and introducing them to the local merchants and professionals for more than two years through Housewarmers of Shawnee.
Each new resident is personally visited and presented with a Housewarmers gift bag, filled with goodies and surprises from Shawnee-area businesses, as well as unique Housewarmers gift certificates.
Swedberg has resided in the Shawnee area for nine years. Prior to moving here in 2000 she had lived in 14 different places, making her very understanding of the many issues facing newcomers as they settle into the community.
Many in Shawnee are surprised to learn 50 new households move to Shawnee each month.
“I want to make these people feel welcomed, and help them through this transition,” Swedberg said. “I like to be there with the answers before they have a chance to have the questions.”
