SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Oklahoma Baptist’s soccer squads went 2-0 Tuesday against Mid-American Christian.
OBU’s women evened their overall record at 2-2-1 with a 5-1 victory to open Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Mengjun Zang had her second two-goal match of the season while Lin Yan, Courtney Anderson and Marinne Burnham added one apiece. Kirsten Morrow posted an assist.
“Mid-America was a better team than I thought,” said OBU coach Brent Coates. “Our girls played well and deserved the win.”
The Lady Bison outshot the Evangels 16-4 with Molly Brown turning away all four shots for saves.
The OBU women will play at Northwestern Tuesday.
Men
At Mid-American, OBU prevailed 3-0 after a scoreless first half in another SAC opener.
Eduardo Acedo broke the tie with a goal and the Bison added another Acedo goal and a Sullivan Silva goal after two MACU players received red-card ejections and the Evangels played down two men.
Goalie Jacob Hibbard of OBU collected five saves. OBU outshot the Evangels 21-6 with a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
“Obviously, when they had two players sent off it got a lot easier,” Coates said. “After that, we put the ball away and put the game away.”
OBU’s men (4-2 overall, 1-0 SAC) will play their first home match at 3 p.m. Saturday against Bacone.
