SSC PTK honor society inducts new members

SEMINOLE, Okla. —

Forty-five Seminole State College students recently were inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges.
Students are selected based on their scholarship, leadership and service qualities. The chapter provides programs, activities and participation in community service projects.
Requirements for membership at SSC include enrollment at an accredited two-year college with a Phi Theta Kappa chapter and overall GPA of 3.5  in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
SSC Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Paul Gasparro was the special guest speaker. Marta Osby and Tracy Jacomo serve as the organization’s faculty advisers. 
Local SSC students inducted in the ceremony included Addisun Austin and Wesley Davis of McLoud; Ashley Laws, William Picking, Brandy States and Samantha Vrska of Prague; Jessica Cook, Lincoln Dearing, Jordon Goodnight, Jared Whitlock, Autumn Wiles and Dustin Kerley of Seminole; Sandra Balderas, Tara Benfield, Elizabeth Finney, Kristen Kingsley, Jeremy Marlow, Kimberly May, Ashley Owens, Vanessa Ryder, Roberto Sanchez and Shala Swanner of Shawnee; Ashley McKnight of Stroud; Desirae Shields of Tecumseh; Alex Fredman of Wellston; and Rachel Farani, Brenda Lee and Alicia Martinez of Wewoka.
There also were students inducted from other towns and cities in Oklahoma, as well students from Brazil, Russia and Canada.
