With the growth of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area comes new opportunities for residents to join a credit union.
With a recent change in the state credit union rules, FAA Credit Union has opened up membership to include individuals in Grady and Lincoln counties. The decision came as a result of the last census, which included the two counties in the Oklahoma City MSA for the first time.
The change allows those who live, work, worship or attend school in Grady and Lincoln counties to become members of the community chartered union. This will be in addition to the six counties they are already serving.
“We have been waiting for this decision for a long time,” Steve Rasmussen, FAA Credit Union president and CEO, said. “These two counties are underserved and don’t have adequate access to credit unions. Given today’s economic climate, there is a great need for the affordable financial products credit unions offer.”
“This expansion allows those residents to have a choice when it comes to their needs and we are happy to serve them.”
The expansion, which was made official June 11, brings the credit unions total field of membership to eight counties. Those counties include Canadian, Cleveland, Logan, McClain, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie, Grady and Lincoln.
Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the counties can become a member of the credit union.
With headquarters in Oklahoma City and seven branches in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, FAA Credit Union has served members for more than sixty years.
Today, the credit union has 43,000 members with assets in excess of $400 million.
