Seminole County’s sales tax returns continue to increase

Seminole County’s sales tax returns continued their trend of shooting upward from April 2007 to April 2008, according to figures released recently by the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The county’s returns fro April 2007, at a tax rate of 0.5 percent, totaled more than $96,600. The county’s returns for April 2008, at tax rate of 1.25 percent, totaled more than $246,900.
Seminole County’s returns to date, within the respective fiscal years, totaled more than $954,380 for April 2007 and more than $2.431 million for April 2008. The fiscal years run from July 1 to June 30.
At the city level, Seminole’s sales tax returns rose from more than $407,970 for April 2007 to more than $415,920 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $3.781 million for April 2007 to more than $4.127 million for April 2008.
Wewoka’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $59,730 for April 2007 to more than $76,370 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $605,200 to more than $632,740 over the same period.
Maud’s returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $9,440 for April 2007 to more than $12,000 for April 2008. Maud’s returns to date dropped slightly over the same period, going from more than $123,260 to just over $123,000.
Konawa’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $29,660 for April 2007 to more than $31,270 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $283,630 for April 2007 to more than $297,230 for April 2008.
Cromwell’s returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, dropped by more than $2,800, going from more than $4,140 for April 2007 to just over $1,300 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date fell as well over the same period, going from more than $26,730 to just over $19,780.
Bowlegs’ sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, fell from more than $1,260 for April 2007 to just over $1,000 for April 2008. Bowlegs’ returns to date rose slightly, going from more than $11,770 for April 2007 to more than $11,800 for April 2008.
Sasakwa’s returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $1,680 for April 2007 to more than $2,000 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date fell, however, going from more than $18,960 for April 2007 to just over $17,830 for April 2008.
