Seminole State College is offering students the chance to explore what is beneath the water’s surface in an eight-week scuba diving course.
In the Professional Association of Diving Instructors Open Water Diving course, taught by certified instructor Lea Ann Hughes, students will learn the basics of scuba diving — starting in a pool and progressing to a lake.Students will participate in eight knowledge-development sessions, six confined water dives and four open water dives.
Classes are held on Wednesdays from Aug. 19 through Oct. 7, 5:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., in the SSC Harber Field House, Room 102.
The cost of the course is $329.90, which includes a mask, fins, neoprene boots and a snorkel. Students will need a PADI water crew-pack, which can be purchased in the SSC Bookstore.
Participants must be in good health and comfortable in the water. Students who complete all sections of the course, the final exam and four open water training dives will be eligible to receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification card.
