Shawnee, OK —
Sharon Spikes, a teacher at Macomb Public Schools, said the school has five proposed projects posted on donorschoose.org, a non-profit Web site where public school teachers submit proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn.
“These ideas become a reality when concerned individuals choose projects to fund,” Spikes said.
Spikes said a total of 579 projects from Oklahoma are posted on the site.
Macomb’s proposed projects include “upload a photo with a digital camera;” “do you wanna be in pictures?;” “calculations in science;” “there, their, they’re: which is it?;” and “math matters.”
Spikes said those interested in donating should go to DonorsChoose.org and click “choose a project.” From there, they need to do an “advanced search” and choose Oklahoma for the state and Macomb for the community.
“This is an easy way people can help support education without having to make a major contribution,” Spikes said.
Spikes said she has had four projects funded through the site, and the school has had a total of six funded.
