Each year several area high school seniors are selected to be a part of the Student Bank Board program. Seminole State College has developed a partnership with BancFirst of Meeker, Prague and Stroud and First National Bank of Shawnee and Holdenville to offer this program for college credit.
The program is designed to educate students in the field of banking and to acquaint them with their community. During the year students meet with bank officers, learn about personal finance, lending, deposits, credit card use and tour the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.
Students receive one hour of college credit for a Business Leadership class through SSC if they qualify and attend all meetings.
“This is a strong partnership between the college and surrounding communities that offers rewarding opportunities to high school seniors in the area,” said SSC Business and Training Coordinator Carol Hartman.
