Lincoln County’s sale tax returns on rise

Lincoln County’s sales tax returns rose from April 2007 to April 2008, according to figures released recently by the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The county’s April 2007 returns, at a tax rate of 1 percent, totaled more than $168,550. The county’s April 2008 returns, at the same tax rate, totaled more than $192,330.
The county’s returns to date, within the respective fiscal years, rose from more than $1.664 million for April 2007 to more than $1.884 million for April 2008. The fiscal years run from July 1 to June 30.
At the city level, Chandler’s sales tax returns rose from more than $153,540 for April 2007 to more than $159,630 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $1.555 million to more than $1.699 million over the same period.
Meeker’s returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, fell from more than $18,000 for April 2007 to just under $17,960 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $181,300 for April 2007 to more than $202,400 for April 2008.
Prague’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $80,400 for April 2007 to more than $82,820 for April 2008. Prague’s returns to date rose from more than $745,320 to more than $779,380 over the same period.
Wellston’s returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $20,000 for April 2007 to more than $24,550 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $204,680 for April 2007 to more than $230,980 for April 2008.
Carney’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $7,430 for April 2007 to more than $7,900 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose by more than $18,000 from April 2007 to April 2008, going from more than $85,390 to more than $103,570.
Agra’s returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $6,210 for April 2007 to more than $8,460 for April 2008. Agra’s returns to date rose by more than $11,000 over the same period, going from more than $54,770 to more than $66,450.
Sparks’ sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, more than doubled from April 2007 to April 2008. The city’s returns for April 2007 totaled more than $530, and totaled more than $1,500 for April 2008.
Sparks’ returns to date rose over the same period, going from more than $7,470 to more than $9,000.
Stroud’s returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, fell from more than $80,720 for April 2007 to more than $78,580 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose, however, going from more than $817,280 for April 2007 to more than $822,000 for April 2008.
Davenport’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, fell from more than $9,380 for April 2007 to more than $6,640 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date fell as well over the same period, falling from more than $84,940 to more than $73,850.
Kendrick’s returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, rose from more than $900 for April 2007 to more than $950 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $9,430 to more than $11,500 over the same period.
Tryon’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, fell from more than $4,000 for April 2007 to just under $3,950 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $34,650 for April 2007 to more than $35,230 for April 2008.
