Pottawatomie County’s sales tax returns up

Pottawatomie County’s sales tax returns rose from April 2007 to April 2008, according to figures released recently by the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The county’s April 2007 returns, at a tax rate of 1 percent, totaled more than $536,000. The county’s April 2008 returns, at the same tax rate, totaled more than $573,920.
The county’s returns to date, within the respective fiscal years, rose from more than $5.463 million for April 2007 to more than $5.727 million for April 2008. The fiscal years run from July 1 to June 30.
At the city level, Shawnee’s sales tax returns (at a tax rate of 3 percent) rose from more than $1.244 million for April 2007 to more than $1.3 million for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $12.176 million to more than $12.845 million over the same period.
Tecumseh’s returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, rose from more than $64,940 for April 2007 to more than $65,410 for April 2008. Tecumseh’s returns to date rose as well over the same period, going from more than $613,480 to more than $614,530.
Earlsboro’s sales tax returns for April 2007, at a tax rate of 2 percent, totaled more than $113,140. The city’s tax rate rose to 3 percent for the 2007-08 fiscal year, and sales tax returns for April 2008 totaled $15,590.
Earlsboro’s returns to date rose from more than $113,140 for April 2007 to more than $155,630 for April 2008.
McLoud’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, rose from more than $35,100 for April 2007 to more than $36,300 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date rose from more than $322,500 to more than $350,950 over the same period.
Pink’s returns, at a tax rate of 3 percent, total just under $1,000 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date total more than $7,240.
Wanette’s sales tax returns for April 2007, at a tax rate of 2 percent, totaled more than $1,370. The city’s returns for April 2008, at a tax rate of 3.5 percent, totaled more than $3,160.
Wanette’s returns to date rose by nearly $10,000 from April 2007 to April 2008, going from more than $12,970 to more than $22,640.
Asher’s sales tax returns, at a tax rate of 4 percent, fell from more than $6,600 for April 2007 to just under $4,000 for April 2008. The city’s returns to date fell as well over the same period, going from more than $47,230 to just over $43,180.
