SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Several past graduates of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics satellite at Gordon Cooper Technology Center recently visited to encourage students and offer advice for success in college. OSSM alumni pictured from left are: Nicholas Johnson, Kathrine Johnson, Jordan Robinson, Justine Kirby and Ryan Baskin. Nicholas Johnson of Newalla is a sophomore at OSU majoring in civil engineering. His sister, Kathrine Johnson, is a freshman at OSU majoring in apparel design and production. Robinson of Shawnee is a sophomore physics and mathematics major at Oklahoma Baptist University. Kirby took OSSM classes as a McLoud High School junior. She is a senior this year and said she plans to major in education at OBU next year. Ryan Baskin of McLoud is a freshman architectural engineering major at OSU. Baskins said his career goal is to become a structural engineer. OSSM offers college-level study of calculus and physics at GCTC for area gifted high school students. The program is designed to prepare students for success in college in math or science related fields. PHOTO PROVIDED
