Lenaburg, Hendershot represent THS Class of 2009 at graduation

TECUMSEH, Okla. —

Tecumseh High School will graduate its 2009 seniors during a commencement exercise to be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21 in the Raley Chapel on the Oklahoma Baptist University campus; baccalaureate services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Sharon Baptist Church in Tecumseh.
This year’s graduating class valedictorian is Paige Lenaburg. Salutatorian for the 2009 graduating class of Tecumseh High School is Chester Hendershot, Jr.
Lenaburg, daughter of Karen and Gary Lenaburg, is involved in many school and community activities, which include the National Honor Society, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4-H, fast- and slow-pitch softball and the Oklahoma State University Legacy Program.
Lenaburg received the Presidential Academic Excellence award several years, Student of the Month four months, Best in County Beef Award twice and many other acknowledgements and awards throughout her academic career.
Her most recent awards include the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce Award, the First United Award, the American Legion Citizenship Award, the Masonic Essay Award and the National Scholar Athlete Award.
Her plans include attending Oklahoma State University on an academic scholarship to pursue a pre-medicine degree.
While Lenaburg said softball and Future Farmers of America have been a large part of her life, she credits another for her accomplishments.
“God has truly blessed my life and I give Him the glory for all He has done for me,” Lenaburg said.
Hendershot, son of Chester and Linda Hendershot, was named a 2009 Academic All-Stater, 2009 Oklahoma Academic Coaches Association Academic Bowl All-Stater, and an Oklahoma Academic All-Stater.
He will participate in the 2009 National Academic Championship in New Orleans and has already completed 37 college credit hours for Seminole State College, Northeastern A & M College and Oklahoma Baptist University and will have an additional eight credit hours prior to entering his freshman year of college.
Hendershot also received numerous other awards and acknowledgements for his academic activities.
His plans include attending Oklahoma City University in the fall as a double-major in cell and molecular biology and Spanish through the receipt of an Oklahoma Heritage Scholarship tuition waiver. He also plans to pursue a medical degree at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and possibly attend Oklahoma City University School of Law after completion of medical school and residency.
He also received an undergraduate research scholarship from Oklahoma City University.
“I would like to hold a career as an oncologist and on-staff attorney at a Cancer Treatment Center of America,” Hendershot said of his future plans.
